Outstation to Sandakan

This is my fourth time in Sandakan. Too bad that it was for business matters or else I can go for a sightseeing and have a 'happy time' just for myself haha XD

Generally, people were amused by the seafood eateries and products whenever they go to Sandakan (particularly the West Malaysian people) since it's much cheaper and has reasonable price compared to what they have in Peninsular. Well I'm not very keen on seafood since I'm not a seafood eater so I was leisurely taking my time looking around the market while everyone else busy getting their seafood.

This is Sim-Sim seafood market area. A famous place for foreigner/tourist to get the fresh seafood. I don't mean to harm the business there but be extra careful when visiting this place.

There is a few seafood eateries where you can satisfy your seafood craving, They do serve the seafood, fresh from the sea.
The big dry salted fish.

Here are some views that I managed to capture. A bit disappointed as I did not take photos of the wet seafood market.

As a part of business matters, I have also visited the rainforest jungle area in Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and Rainforest Discovery Centre. Actually, it was my second time visiting these places. Well, I used to be Forestry Science student and being in a jungle trails feels natural for me.

At the entrance.

You can stick your head in the middle of the Orang Utan sculpture. I chose not to or else I'll look like Orang Utan hehe...

The jungle trails. If you are lucky enough you can see the Orang Utan walking around the trails (with close observation by the guard though). You can see the Orang Utan if you zoom into my pic.

I really enjoyed the forest canopy scenery. There were big and straight lumber from various natural tree species.

The management has made a name plate for each tree (big ones) to ease the identification of the tree species.

Big Dipterocarps tree.

At the outdoor nursery building.

It's feeding time.

The information board. So, you can actually adopt the Orang Utan as pets!

There is Sepilok Nature Resort where you can take a break and recharge yourself after a long day visiting the Orang Utan. The resort looks rich in nature with the bamboo hut design and accompanied by the forest surrounding.

Not to mention that they also have the swimming pools.

If you have extra time you can visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre . It's located just beside the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. It was raining during my visit there so I did not manage to spend some time visiting the cute sun bear T.T

This is the entrance to Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC).

There's a  few places you can visit here. Am much interested in the jungle trekking but unfortunately I could not due to time limitation.

The lake view.

Tower at the canopy walkway.

The view from the canopy.

A visit to RDC is quite educational and beneficial for those who wants to nurture the environment awareness. The management explained that they actually doing paperwork for environment educational purpose which targeted the youngsters. Those who interested to contribute can contact the RDC management for a good cause.

Thanks for reading.
